My downfall
I have changed the title of this blog. I guess you should be wise enough to guess the reason why. I had indicated in my previous blog that if I am no longer the chairman, I shall change the title of my blog. It is my personal blog now but I shall continue to write about Prima. Whatever I write now is my personal view, it does not reflect the views of the committee or anybody else. I wish to change the address of my blog too but on second thought, I did not do so because if I were to do so , nobody at Prima would be able to visit my site anymore. Whatever I write will still be about what is happening at Prima because I am still be in the position to get the latest info about Prima.
I had already read my downfall one day before the A.G.M. I checked my letter box one day before the A.G.M. and I found a flyer together with a proxy form inviting all the owners to turn up for the A.G.M. I made a few calls and a committee member from Block C admitted he and his buddies distributed the forms. I did not wish to have an argument with him although what he did was not in line with the decisions made by by the committee. This third A.G.M. is only for owners whose names are to be found in the 2006 membership list. All those owners who wish to become members need to fill in the appilication forms and their applications need to be approved by the committee before they are eligible to vote. Which association allows somebody to fill in the form and enjoys the right to vote straight away ? Just as I expected the next day, many " ah chims " and " ah peks " turned up. They had made preparation to vote me out. To prevent a scene, I had to pass a new resolution to allow these people to vote. I supported the resolution to allow them to vote because I did not want them to accuse me of trying to stop them from voting. As expected, I lost. These new voters had voted me out. I lost by about ten votes. I noticed two class of voters here. The English educated would voted for me and the Chinese educated would vote for the new chairman and the strange thing is that most of the new voters were from Block C. I had no choice but to accept defeat.
Before the election, someone had put up new quotations for the card access submitted by three different companies . The diffrence in the cost is more than RM 100 000. I don't know whether this was deliberately done to fish for votes or to tarnish my credibility. The drastic difference in the cost implies that UOA had deliberately jacked up the price in order to make a clean profit. Maybe, they also tried to imply that the ex-chairman had a cut in the profit. I was told that such a rumour was going round. It doesn't matter to me now. As I had said in my previous blog, my conscience is crystal clear. I am still able to sleep soundly every night. Since they claimed that the difference in the cost is so drastic, I shall leave it to the new chairman to seek an explanation from UOA. It is not my baby anymore.
If you were to ask me how I felt, I would be lying if I told you I was not disappointed. Yes, I was disappointed. I was disappointed because my past contributions had never been appreciated by these new voters. I was disappointed because I could not contribute anything to Prima anymore. My complaints , my suggestions and my proposals to the management do not carry any weights anymore. But then, I also felt a sense of relief. I felt so much lighter now. I don't have to answer to any calls anymore. I don't owe anybody an explanation anymore. We have a new chairman. I wish to congratulate him in his position as the new chairman. I wish him best of luck.
Thank you and have a nice day!

The A.G.M. and the card access

The A.G.M. for the Owners' Association will be held on Sunday, 27th May 2007 at 10.00 a.m. This is our third A.G.M. It is usually difficult to get a quorum for an A.G.M. This is the usual case for other condos too. Most of the owners would only turn up if there is an issue which may affect them. Well, I think for Prima the hot issue will still be the card access. I don't know whether the protests are still going on or they have died down. Hopefully, members of the association would turn up to discuss the card access issue and to elect the new office bearers.

The installation of the card access and the CCTV have been completed. The company is doing some testing work before the official handover. The management is also making preparations to issue notices pertaining to procedures on the implementation of the card access to all the owners. I think the common question now is how many cards the residents will be getting for each unit. You can rest assured that you would be given sufficient number of cards unless you have a very large family. The last thing the management would want to do is to make it difficult for you to obtain the cards. As for the tenants, they cannot apply for the cards themselves. Their landlords would have to submit the applications for them. Alternatively, they can get an authorization letter from their landlord to apply for the cards. Since the tenants are not permanent residents here , it is advisable for the owners to impose a deposit before their tenants are given the cards because you have to purchase the cards if the tenants do not return the cards after they have moved. The management has also set a limit to the maximun number of cards you can apply for each unit. The big units would get more than the small units. Your applications must be submitted together with your photostat I.C. if you do not possess any resident cards.

The motorcyclists would be given cards too in order to free the security guards from taking care of them. The guards need to pay more attention to the CCTV. Your cards for the cars would also be merged with the cards to access the lift lobbies. In this way, you will be carrying only one card instead of two. I am really looking forward to the implementation of the card access. I also hope that it can prove the critics wrong.

Goodnight and have a nice day!

The nail and the card access.

The above nail is 6 cm (3 inches ) long. You guys must be thinking I have gone nuts to write about the nail. What is the connection between the nail and the card access? Well, this is the nail that caused a puncture in the front tyre of my car. How could a 6 cm nail got embedded in the tyre if it wasn't placed there in the first place. I heard a thud sound when I just started to leave my parking lot.

The guy who did it wanted to send me a message. His interest at Prima Setapak must have been unduly affected by the implementation of the card access. I remember the last time when my car had a puncture was one day after we had our first A.G.M. I remembered vividly that I told the crowds that the management had decided to shut level three at midnight. Someone made a protest from the floor. The next day, my car had a puncture. Somebody put a tiny pebble in the cover of the nut of my tyre.

I do not know whether there will be more to come. I do not wish to speculate unless the guy is caught in the act. I can't take any preventive measure and I don't know how. If you ask me whether I am upset or not? Of course, I am. Has the implementation of the card access make someone so furious that he has to carry out a sabotage and endanger someone's life. Has the implementation of the card access affected their lives? But, the funny thing is that nobody has come up to me and told me what the Owners' Association did was wrong. Most of them asked me when the management is going to issue the cards. I just don't believe that the card access would make our lives miserable here. You only need to carry an extra card besides all your credit cards.

As for me, life goes on. There is nothing much I can do. I would not get too obsessed with it. They can do whatever they want to my car but the card access remains.

Thank you and have a good day!
