Break-ins
A break-in occured at level 17, Block B this week. The chief security told me that they came in by taxi. A taxi with two passenggers who claimed to be residents of prima was allowed to go to Block B to drop them off. They went to level 17 and tried to gain entry by cutting a hole in it. Fortunately, a resident at level 16 saw the incident and informed the guards promptly. The guards went up and managed to apprehend one of the suspects. The taxi driver and two of the suspects managed to escape. The taxi was compounded by the police. We consider these thieves as pros. They had all kinds of break-in equipments with them. We are still not sure whether other break-ins cases were committed by the same group of people.
I told the security that they should carry out stringent checks before they conveniently allowed visitors' vehicles or taxi to go to Block B or C. For our own safety sake, I hope the owners or their guests would not be offended by this move. The owners have to understand that Prima Setapak is located in a high risk area. We should consider ourselves fortunate in the sense that all these break-ins had not led to any tragedies yet. For your info, the suspect who was caught had a gun with him. Be more alert! Do not hesitate to call the guards if you sense something fishy at your floor. Keep the security's number under speed call. The number is 03-40229652.
Have a nice day!

hello president,all ...
this news really come as a shock ... our security guards are "relatively better" compare to the apartment/condo around this area such as genting-court, sri-pelangi etc BUT still we have this type of incident right on front of our own neighborhood ... just imagine what will happen if our security is a little bit sucks ...
well, i'm not gonna start a political lecture on how this is caused by economy&political policies which indirectly generated this problem (chain-reaction with social-issue being the last-mile) ...
how can we prevent this from happening again in future ? definately i won't be so worry if what they're after are just some shoes ... but we're talking about these crooks who have GUNS ... looks like these people have move up the value-chain (so to speak) ... nowadays bag-snatchers will use their knives to stab you first before getting your handbag (yeap, no more threatening you with their knifes), it's their SOP (std operating procedure) nowadays ... smart ehh ?
ok, back to this incident ... some of my opinions ...
1) did the guards managed to record their face when they stop at entrance ? if i can remember there's cctv installed at both the entrance/exit point ... if not, then the cctv installation has defeat the purpose ... maybe we can enhance this procedure such as re-position the cctv for better recording (hey, that's the purpose of the cctv right ?) ... if not, then maybe it's time we re-install the cctv into each of the lifts (this time ensure it's working one and not to scare them) ... i believe i've voiced my concern on this in the previous comment before ... we can't do that before we get the strata titles ? well what are we waiting for then ? can we speed it up ? it's been more than 3 years since we moved in ...
2) a simple procedure such as checking the boot of each taxis / outsiders vehicles (lorry, mpv etc) by guards before letting them off the exit point should be implemented ... this is sop when you enter & exit most of the etablished co's office compound nowadays ... i won't mind wait for a couple of seconds for car to be inspected ...
3) install a high-resolution good cctv for each block at the main entrance such as ground, 1, 2 and 2B floor because anyone who need to enter need to bypass these entry points into the escalator/stair-case ... hence we need 4 x 3 blocks = 12 cctv at this beginning stage ... this of course need the cost to be justifiable and depends on the outcome of strata titles etc again ... so we need to speed up whatever hindrance for us to manage our fund soonest possible ...
4) after we managed to control our funds, then we can start think of more luxury preventive measures such as cctv for each floor ? more security personnel to escort taxis to the respective drop-off point ? more cctv at entry/exit point at different angle to capture faces ?
that's all i can think of at thie moment ... i'm not going to talk about other high-tech solution such as RFID check-in/out mechanism etc ...
anyway, small steps will slowly contribute to the enhancement of the security ... but i guess we need to take charge of our funds soonest possible ... if i'm not mistaken there're politician (from MCA) amongst us ... wondering if he's kind enough to use his influence to speed this funds-thing up as the developer for sure will drag this for as long as possible ...
just imagine what will these crooks do besides take all your belonging away once broke into your home ... you might have daughter, wife, sisters etc who might be helpless to fight back if these suckers suddenly think of "something else" to satisfy them ... scary huh ?
cheers (remember to lock your before going to bed) ...
btw, which unit of block B, level 17 that this break-in occured ?
fred
A broke-in happened on A-14 recently also on a Sat morning while the tenants have balik kampong .Jewellery cost some RM6k were lost . Seem like nowhere is safe in prima now !
On 15/05/2006 A break-ins was happend at C12 while I and my husband out for working. When I reach home at 8.00p.m, I saw my door was close but my 2 Solex padlock was open and hang on grille seem no damaged but already loose out. I found that my Jewellery, money and 2 passport lost cost about RM8K.
I report to security guard and noticed that on the same day in the morning another unit C14 also break-ins by crook and lost cost about RM6k.
I and my husband lodged a report at Setapak Police Station. I bring two padlock for them and ask how crook open the lock only loose it out and look like no damaged ? They said crook use the chemical acid put into the padlock hole for dissolved the roller/copper and easy for them to pull & open. They use the screw driver to prise and open up and down side door lock first and then easy for them to prise & open the keylock at wood door.
I think this kind of job at lease must spend half and hour & above to enter in. Is it all security guards in sleeping ? As my opposite neighbour said she almost at home everday, she wanna how in 1 week sure 1 - 2 times salesman come to ring the door bell and ask to scratch card and buy home appliances.
Why our security guards not control this kind of thing ? I am the resident here, i feel our prima secure is very poor. I agreed the suggestion of the president to put up CCTV at least at all block lifts.
Have a Nice Day
Irene
