The nepalnese guards
I just don't understand why some securty companies like to engage nepalnese guards. Are they really good? They may be good as soldiers. They may be good when they are at war.The gurkhas have given them a good reputation but then gurkhas are soldiers and they are not security guards. They come from a country where there are hardly any condos around. They may not have seen a condo before. They may have culture shock when they see no reason why we need to have rules and regulations at the place we live. This is what is happening to Prima right now. The foreign guards at Prima look like they have been just plucked out of the valleys and the mountains.
I had a very bad encounter with one of them. I was at level three. I saw some boys whom I suspect to be outsiders playing basketball so I asked the new guard whether these boys registered themselves or not. I showed him my card access and asked him whether they possess one. He was blinking at me not knowing what I wanted him to do. I gave up. Another was caught napping at 4.00 in the morning and this is only the second day he is on duty.
Only foreign guards are working tonight. The problem that you may encounter is you may have problem getting your message across if you wish to complain about your noisy neighbour after midnight. If you someone park his car at your parking lot, you may have problem complaining to the guard. If your house is broken into, it will be a nightmare for you. I am sure these guys will not know how to handle the situation. In another scenario, if there is a fire, will they be able to handle the fire fighting equipments. The UOA guards do carry out fire drill from time to time. . The card access system and the CCTV are alien to them . I was at the guardhouse observing the them on duty. They just pressed the button to allow three cars without access cards to come in. All you have to do is to press the horn and the guard will press the button. These guards need someone to guide them The cannot stand on their own. The ratio should be 1:1 , one nepalnese and one local. Right now, there are eight nepalnese and two locals. I am really concerned. I guess I need to have a talk with my chairman before the situation deteriorates further.
Goodnight and have a nice day!

This is sad to say that changing new security guards is a fail decision. Last time, we still can saw guards walk around in Prima, meet they in car park or lift but now we only can see those guards stand at same spot and lazy to moving.
Early of starting card access system, this is nice to see those guards locate in front of ground floor gateway and monitor, but what happen recent? We hiring those "model" to stay at gateway with nothing?
Yes, many residents like to open the door in 90 degree but at least those guards can help to close the door, but they don't. Somemore, the implement of card access system is to prohibit outsider come in prima as they like, but now, i can't see any guards will ask or check them. What i saw just those "model" stay and waiting for time pass.
Lastly, how many guards now in prima? i only can saw 2~4 in guardhouse and 1 on each block (not including Block A), 1 on third floor, got any more?
so, what is the new chairman gonna do about this? since the last time he was elected, we rarely hear what has been achieved so far ... too early i guess, probably he needs some time for "honeymoon" (just like our prime minister) ...
anyway, isn't this a robbery considering we've been paying the same amount of maintenance but are given an inferior set of guards? but then i guess this is the standard way for UOA & DATS to make money ... did the association raise a single finger in protest?
instead of relying on the deputy chairman, mr see, to post his opinion in this blog, could mr see grants permission to the new chairman to post in this blog as well? let me know if you do not know how to grant another co-author - actually i've propose this in my previous post ...
with both chairman and deputy chairman contributing to this blog, i believe this blog will better reflects the voice of prima setapak condo ...
cheers
fred
I saw the notice issed on replacing the guards with the "professional" . I would like to know what's the definition of "professional" ? Why the current guards are being replaced ?
Can we have all their names and photo posted on the notice board ?
Fred, why must you asked the new chairman to join in the blog.As said in the press blog is only a place for cheap publicity abd for those "GLOBLOK"
hello anonymous,
my suggestion for both chairman and deputy chairman to chip in their opinion to this blog is to have a common platform for all the residents here to read, hear and contribute their comments ...
furthermore the blogname already reflects the name of all the residents here ...
if both can contribute, then we can see the synergy and hear stories from both the chairman and deputy chairman ...
it's a common place for all residents ... it doesn't belong to mr see alone but all of us ... and i'm sure mr see would agree to it as no one can label him as the only dictator who dictate what goes through in this blog anymore ...
if the new chairman do not wish to join in, may we ask him why?
how about that?
cheers
fred
